“Nanny State“ Legislator Overreaches for his No. 2 Pencil

Tennessee State Representative G. A. Hardaway has introduced a bill that would require all students whether public, private or home schooled to submit to state testing. The potential state encroachment into these non-public institutions is extremely troubling, especially during a time when state testing program is in flux. This is a clear example where politicians have lost touch with reality and the role of the government. Parents should be free to make educational choices for their children without government interference.

There is no doubt that the nanny state legislator is overreaching for greater government authority and control over decisions of Tennessee parents. This heavy handed approach by Mr. Hardaway has him moving in the opposite direction of protecting parental rights and their educational choices.
